PLAINVIEW, N.Y. – A Long Island woman charged with manslaughter in the death of her 8-year-old disabled daughter is due back in court on Wednesday.
Authorities allege she left a suicide note saying the child "should die" before failing to take her own life.
The little girl suffered from cerebral palsy. She was found just hours before she would have been the flower girl at her cousin's wedding.
The mother, Veronica Cirella of Plainview, was still in the Nassau University Medical Center on Monday afternoon. Her lawyer denies the accusations.
Prosecutors say it appears the child had an allergic reaction to something she was fed. They allege the mother failed to take steps to save her.
