CRAIG, Alaska – An Alaska woman has been sentenced to three years in prison in a case that alleged she arranged to have her boyfriend and a former boyfriend kill her mother.
Rachelle Waterman was just 16 years old when she was accused of conspiring to kill her mother.
An Anchorage jury in February convicted Waterman of criminally negligent homicide. She was acquitted of the more serious charges of conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder.
Prosecutors say the guilty verdict means Waterman should have known Jason Arrant and Brian Radel, both 24 at the time, posed a substantial risk to her mother. Radel was her boyfriend.
KTUU-TV reports that Waterman was sentenced Friday in Craig, where her mother was murdered in 2004.
Waterman's first trial ended in a hung jury.
